The M1000 ELECTRO-SURGICAL UNIT uses two industry standard microcontrollers. One microcontroller is dedicated for display and user specific actions. The other microcontroller is used for the overall control. These two microcontrollers communicate to share data. The different waveforms are generated by hardware from a Quartz Crystal controlled oscillator and are selected by the Control Microcontroller.
One of the most important functions of the Control Microcontroller is to provide feedback to regulate the output power of the Diathermy. The final RF Voltage and RF Current are sampled every 20 milliseconds (50 samples per second) and are used to compute the actual RF Load and Power. The RF Load is to check the condition of the tissue and decision is taken by the RF power against the power set by the user. Under normal conditions, the final output RF power is controlled (Up/Down) to maintain the set power.
